Rosalind Smyth is Professor of Child Health at the UCL Great Ormond Street Institute of Child Health and Honorary Consultant Respiratory Paediatrician at Great Ormond Street Hospital. She was Director of this Institute from 2012-22 and is currently Vice-Dean (Research) in the UCL Faculty of Population Health Sciences. Her current research interests include clinical studies of viral/host interactions in RSV bronchiolitis and clinical trials and systematic reviews of treatments for childhood respiratory disease. Rosalind previously served as Professor of Paediatric Medicine at the University of Liverpool and held the position of Director of the NIHR UK Medicines for Children Research Network, which supports a variety of paediatric research across England.
Among other commitments, Rosalind is the Vice President (Clinical) of the Academy of Medical Sciences. She also serves as the Chair of UKRI-MRC’s Training and Careers Group, is a Governor of the Health Foundation, a Trustee of the UK Cystic Fibrosis Trust, and Chair of the Academy of Medical Sciences Starter Grants for Clinical Lecturers Panel.
Rosalind received a CBE at the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list of 2015 for services to the regulation of medicines for children.
