Concordat letter of support

Letter of support for the priorities of the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice

November 2025

Paul Moss and Angela Hind Dr Angela Hind, CEO and Professor Paul Moss, Chair of the Board.

We, Angela Hind, CEO, and Paul Moss, Chair of the Board, on behalf of the Medical Research Foundation, confirm our support for the priority areas outlined in the Concordat for the Environmental Sustainability of Research and Innovation Practice.

By supporting this concordat, we recognise the need to change how we conduct research and innovation as well as promote wider solutions. We also agree to take shared action now and into the future to reduce and eliminate our own environmental impacts and to achieve the transition to sustainable practices.

At the Medical Research Foundation, we know that environmental sustainability must be embedded at the heart of the research we support.

As part of our strategy, we will commit to taking action on the priority areas of the concordat. For us, this means adopting a climate-conscious, low-carbon approach across all our activities, and embracing new ideas, technologies and practices. We aim to reach Net Zero in our own activities as soon as possible and influence the activities of others that we work with and fund, or who provide services to us. We are embedding environmental sustainability into all our decision-making processes, making certain that the environmental impact of the research we fund is actively considered in our awards. We aim to be a sector leader in environmentally sustainable grant-giving and operations, setting a clear example for others to follow.

This reflects our commitment to laying the foundations for ground-breaking new discoveries and life-changing advances while doing all we can to protect the planet.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Angela Hind, CEO

Professor Paul Moss, Chair of the Board of Trustees
