92% of expenditure on research
In 2012/13, 40% of our income came from legacies and donations from the public and the majority of the remainder of our income arises from our investment portfolio.
In 2012/13, 92% of our expenditure was on charitable activities – such as, research grants, fellowships, studentships, support for collaboration and skill sharing. Only four per cent of our expenditure was on governance costs and four on the costs of raising funds (direct fundraising and investment manager’s fees).
For every £1 donated we invest 1p back in further fundraising and are able to make 99p available to support research and run the charity:
